Professor Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz Joins GUB as Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies

Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) proudly welcomes Professor Dr. Mohammed Tareque Aziz as the Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies, effective February 1, 2022.

Dr. Aziz brings a wealth of academic and professional experience to GUB. He completed his Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) from Assumption University, Thailand (through a joint degree program with IUBAT) and earned his MBA from North South University (NSU). Before transitioning into academia, he held senior management positions in some of South Asia’s leading retail organizations, including WESTECS, AARONG (a BRAC project), MGH Group, and BRAC Bank Ltd., where he gained over 10 years of industry experience.

Dr. Aziz pursued his PhD in Retail Marketing from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), an AACSB-accredited institution. Prior to joining GUB, he served as a faculty member at BRAC University, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), and IUBAT. At UAP, he held the position of Professor and Head of the Business Administration Department, and at BRAC University, he served as Head of Operations of BRAC Business School (BBS). Additionally, he has international teaching experience at Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM), instructing students from over 20 different countries at the graduate and postgraduate levels.

Beyond academia, Dr. Aziz is a recognized academic quality expert and has collaborated with the University Grants Commission (UGC) on academic quality enhancement projects. He is also the Consulting Editor of Bangladesh's leading industrial journal, Bangladesh Textile Today. His expertise spans business review and analysis, retail planning, brand management, project management, and corporate compliance.

Notably, Dr. Aziz holds the first copyright for "Service Quality Index (SQI)" from the Government of Bangladesh, recognizing his contribution to the service industry. He has presented research at prestigious conferences in Denmark, India, China, Malaysia, Thailand, South Africa, Nepal, Singapore, and the UAE. His scholarly work has been published in leading journals, including the International Journal of Retail and Distribution Management (IJRDM), Asia Pacific Journal of Retail and Marketing Management, and International Postgraduate Business Journal (Malaysia).

With a strong research interest in relationship marketing, brand management, consumer behavior, SME development, and retailing, Dr. Aziz is committed to fostering academic excellence and industry collaboration at GUB.
